1500 audience members watched the four performances of  "Dance & Dessert" this year!
Profits from these performances help A Center for the Arts
to bring professional dance companies to Fergus Falls
to perform and provide master classes for our dancers.  The dancers also performed for the Broen and Pioneer Homes in December.

The cast will next be performing for:
Underwood Public Schools on
Friday, February 24th
and
at the Someplace Tea Fundraiser on
Saturday, February 25th!

Did you know?

We currently have 6 alumni
who are majoring in dance in college!

Shannon Denzel at St. Olaf

Olivia (Danielson) Hoffman at U of Wisconsin, Stevens Point

Mariusz Kujawski at U of Wisconsin, Stevens Point

Kaitlin Larson at the U of MN

Amanda Lewis at the U of MN

Working on her Master's Degree in Dance:

We are very proud of them and also happy to have many other alumni who continue to dance as they pursue other fields as their majors.  Dance can be a life long activity!

Our Goal....
It is the goal of the Fergus Falls School of Dance to teach its students much more than "steps". We hope to open them to a wholly different way to look at the world. The physical fitness that comes from dance training is actually a side benefit, not the goal. Studying dance as an "art form" is very different from taking dance as a sport where learning "routines" and competition are the main emphasis. Dance as an art form is concerned with the bigger picture of teaching a sense of the aesthetic, the appreciation of beauty and value.

It stimulates creative energy and is a positive outlet for self-expression. In the process of learning the technical skills necessary to communicate through movement, our students acquire good posture, body awareness, flexibility and strength.

They develop self-discipline, confidence, creative problem solving skills, the ability to take corrections, and to think as an individual within a group.

They learn to compete with themselves, to always strive to improve and to do their best.

They learn the value of the unique individual voice of each person.
